Is there travel required?

Rides: We usually ride trails around Folsom Lake. Other locations include Salmon Falls/ Cronin Ranch, Auburn, and Sly Park.

Races: The NorCal League high school season will include some travel within Northern California (See the schedule page). There will be additional travel for the Regional and National teams.

What kind of bike does my child need?

We are a cross-country mountain bike team. Our average bike will feature specs similar to these Specialized bikes. E-bikes, single speed, and rigid (no suspension) bikes are not allowed for riders per NICA rules.

Can parents ride with the team?

We love having parents that want to help out. You are allowed to attend one ride before you must register a NICA level one coach (basic Ride Leader level).

What if the sport is too expensive for us at this time?

We offer scholarships to help families ensure that their child can ride. This is intended for families unable to afford the team dues, bike, gear, race fees, etc. Please contact your coach to find out more. (Don’t be shy. Your privacy will be respected.)

Can I do another spring sport at the same time?

No. Riders must attend at least 3 of 4 rides each week during the season, and races are a requirement.

Do I have to race if I am on the team?

Racing is what we train for. Speak to your coach if you feel that exceptions need to be made.

Can my child ride an e-bike?

No.

Are ride leaders (parent volunteers/ coaches) allowed to ride e-bikes?

It is not encouraged, but ride leaders are not restricted by NICA rules for bikes.
